Some of you may not be familiar with twitter, or some of you may how heard of it but are not sure what it is.  Twitter is a social network site that let’s you know what and individual or group is doing at a particular moment.  So we now have a twitter for our junior high ministry.  What use is that you say?

Well, we will be able to post play by play mini twitter posts our mission trips or other trips. This will give you a little glimpse of what is happening with our students.  We will also be able to post pictures to our twitter feed as well.  So either sign up for your own twitter account and “follow us” or simply keep you eye on the twitter feed on the right side of this page for quick updates.

Our Twitter page is here.

Dear Revolution Parents,

I just wanted to shoot you a quick note to let you know of a new series we will be starting in our junior high services beginning this weekend of June 21st.   We will be doing a 3-week series titled “Hmmm…answers to life’s tough questions”. Each week we will look at one tough issue students seem to be faced with regularly and explore what God’s word has to say about the topic. We’ll also help students discover how God’s answers to these tough questions really do make a lot of sense!  Here are the topics we’ll be covering in this series:

June 21st: Homosexuality    We’ll help students gain a biblical understanding of this issue as well as help them develop a Christ-like response.

July 26th:  Divorce   How to make it through my parent’s split and how I can encourage others going through it.

August 2nd :  Creation vs. Evolution    We’ll look at what the Bible has to say, what science has to say and answer some frequently asked questions.

These three questions are the most common questions raised by our students. This tells us that they are confronting these issues regularly and are looking for direction. We’re looking forward to this series and wanted to let you know of the subject matter ahead of time.

Thank you for allowing Revolution and Faith Covenant Church to play a role in God’s incredible plan for your child’s life.

His best to you,

Joshua Johnson

Student Ministries Pastor

Last night we had a great training meeting.

We took some time to get framilar with names, we learned a little bit about the place we are serving, and went through expectations and dress code. Tonight we will be having a little painting training as well as getting to know each other better.

Parents, here are the list of adults going on the trip:

Joshua Johnson, Janae Barriouso, Taylor Ann Barriouso, Lezlie Steiner, Robyn Thompson and JD Kuplic.  Please pray for us as we lead this trip.

Parents- More details for you.

Do not wait till the last minute to pack for the trip.  Your students got the packing list last night.

Note the tools that you need to bring-

3-5 gallon bucket (write students name on it)- for your students to hold their tools.  However pack the following tools in their bag as we will need to stack the buckets.

Hammer, Plastic Bags, Safety Goggles, Small, Medium, and Large Paint Brush, Work Gloves

When are we leaving and when will we get back?

Arrive on July 12th at the church at 6:30am sharp to pack trailer so we can be on the road by 7:00am.

We will be back Saturday between 2:30-3:00pm.

Don’t forget our final parent/student meeting July 8th at 7:00pm.

We had a great first night of mission training last night.  I hope you are getting even more excited about the trip in 24 days!

As I look back on this last weeks set of devotions here are some reflection questions and comments I have for each day that you can ponder as you prepare for the trip.  Feel free to comment on any of these questions online.vh_logo

Day 2- As you think about future mission trips and service projects, what can you do to mobilize others to make a difference in the world?

Day 4- Jesus often prayed before he made important decisions or was preparing for ministry.  What priority will prayer take as you serve for a whole week?

Day 5- Most likely sometime this week something won’t go as planned or you make be in a sour mood.  How will you rely on God’s power during those times?

Day 6- While working at your worksite you will most likely experience some interruptions.  Some of those interruptions could be God moments where you can minister.  Keep your eyes open for the opportunities to minister during a interruption.

Day 8- Keeping your priorities in line is important on a mission trip.  Yes, we want to have fun but is it important to remember why we are on a mission trip.   The main reason we are there is to minister and to serve.

Your turn to comment.
